If the webshop administrator sends newsletters from the CMS, it is important that the transmissions are send from a different server than where the shop is running. Magento Newsletter SMTP ensures that the newsletter management happens in Magento, but the actual transmission is going through another server. This may cause the shop not to be overloaded when large mailings are sent out. After each transmission a log can be viewed in Magento showing which users have recieved the newsletter.
